Universidad de Lima encourages students to participate in academic and research activities through Study Circles—groups of students from different undergraduate programs with a common interest and guided by a professor.

STUDY CIRCLES

Study circles of Universidad de Lima are groups of undergraduate students that, with a professor’s advice, focus on study and research of one or more disciplines. Ulima Circles must comprise students from different study levels, preferably.

Development and Sustainability of Family Businesses Study Circle

This Circle promotes reflection, research, debate and promotion of issues related to family businesses. The dynamics of the business family and the family business are studied in order to generate skills that contribute to the development and sustainability of family businesses.

Objectives

Train students from the Faculty of Business and Economic and Universidad de Lima in terms of Business Family with Family Business, recognizing their strengths and weaknesses (communication, negotiation, conflict, and strategic decision-making).
Contribute to the specialization of the student who wishes to participate in a family business by providing specific training on issues related to family businesses in order to achieve their development and sustainability.
Promote the deepening of matters related to business families and family businesses, addressing issues around ethics, corporate governance structures, succession mechanisms, family protocol, culture, leadership, dispute resolution in family businesses, among others.
Prepare an online newsletter that will allow the dissemination of research and analysis developed by the study circle, and relevant topics for family businesses.
Disseminate issues related to the development and sustainability of family businesses through talks, seminars and forums.
Dissemination of the Circle’s efforts as a case that reflects the application of good practices or advantages of the professionalization of family businesses or a good generational transition, etc.

Business Discussion and Argumentation Study Circle

The Business Discussion and Argumentation Study Circle is a space where students develop their skills in research, argumentation, and presentation of ideas—in writing and orally. This will boost their skills when supporting thesis, presenting projects, having conversations, exchanging ideas, and defending their standpoints based on previous research.

Objectives

Promote professional and academic research among students.
Increase competitiveness through professional and academic research.
Develop and sharpen students’ skills in argumentation, as well as defending standpoints respectfully.
Encourage natural interactions between students when defending opposite ideas.
Improve communication and high-impact presentation skills among students.

Ethics and Business Sustainability Study Circle

This Circle is committed to monitor ethical cases of companies—both positive and negative.

Objectives

Promote a continuous debate, positioning Universidad de Lima as a reference in business ethics culture and encouraging their students to acknowledge reliability and honor of organizations.
Identify good practices and also bad practices that can be classified as inappropriate, using codes of conduct that go beyond the law, in order to promote human excellence—which is critical in our country.

Innovation and Entrepreneurship Study Circle

This Circle promotes and strengthens the entrepreneurship spirit of the Faculty of Business and Economics at Universidad de Lima.

Objectives

Provide students from the Faculty of Business and Economics at Universidad de Lima with key concepts on entrepreneurship, in order to be fully capable of drafting profitable business plans.
Promote the participation of students from the Faculty of Business and Economics and Universidad de Lima in national and international business competitions.
Promote local events where students from the Faculty of Business and Economics and Universidad de Lima can present their business ideas.

Leadership and Managerial Skills Development Study Circle

The Leadership and Managerial Skills Development Study Circle contributes to the development of professional competences that are complementary to the academic training of students. This will increase their job opportunities while achieving their professional goals.

General objective

Provide guidance and support to students during their professional path through an in-depth analysis and management of tools and techniques that will allow them to develop managerial and leadership skills.

Specific objectives

Guide students to develop their competences through group experiential workshops and personalized advising.
Provide tools that facilitate employability and management of the individual professional career.
Contribute to he comprehensive development of students through soft skill workshops that allow them to adapt to the constantly evolving markets.

Simulators and Business Games Study Circle

The Simulators and Business Games Study Circle (SIMS) helps students to integrate their knowledge using business simulators, in order to contribute to their professional development and keep them updated in terms of current business matters.
