The I Research Expo 2018-2 Organized by the Civil Engineering Undergraduate Program Was Inaugurated
On September 17, at the hall of Building V, the president of Universidad de Lima, Óscar Quezada Macchiavello, inaugurated the First Research Expo, organized by the Civil Engineering Undergraduate Program, and described it as a historic moment. This initiative, promoted by Alexandre Almeida, director of the Civil Engineering Undergraduate Program, intends to develop research and critical thinking skills in students at exploratory level, and geological projects of national and international magnitude are taken as study cases.
Research projects developed by student groups from the subject of Geology were exhibited. Each team collected information of a specific place, analyzed soil components and structure, and finally proposed creative and innovative solutions that may be useful for engineering projects in the future.
The effort of the participants was recognized by the University’s leadership. The project entitled “Cerro del Águila Hydroelectric Power Plant” (analyzed from a geological approach) by Antoni Anaya, Giovanni Cabanillas, Hans Cupen and William Quispe won first place. Anaya stated:
“I am very excited. This is the result of the commitment and talent of my classmates. This prize motivates us to continue learning, given that the University, from the first terms, instills in us a spirit of research, and the professors are the main promoters of the projects.”
The exhibition will be available until September 28.
