Óscar Quezada, President, Inaugurated the III Research Expo 2019-2 Organized by the Civil Engineering Undergraduate Program
On November 11, at the hall of the Torres Cincuentenario, Óscar Quezada Macchiavello, president of Universidad de Lima, inaugurated the III Research Expo, organized by the Civil Engineering Undergraduate Program, with the presence of students, professors, leadership and other members from the Ulima community.
The research presented by Civil Engineering students cover the subjects of Geology, Soil Mechanics, Concrete Technology, Environmental Engineering, Architecture, and Graphic Engineering I and II, and are focused on issues such as science, sustainability and innovation in relation to a specific research topic. The president stated:
“The University is called to inspire the country to find new ways of doing business and, in such context, inspire the country to find new ways of constructing with innovation. For this, constant research is important, which should not only exist in this program, the newest of the University, but the one that with more brightness, enthusiasm and strength is making our way to this research gradualness matrix.”
The ceremony was also attended by Alexandre Almeida del Savio, director of the Civil Engineering Undergraduate Program, and Bertha Díaz Garay, dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, who awarded the winners. Ludy Cáceres Montero, research coordinator of the Civil Engineering Undergraduate Program, was also present.
The top three research projects were: “BIM methodology benefits” (Graphic Engineering I) by Rafael Ferrada Vásquez, Cristina Iberico Mendoza, Alejandra Pérez Aspiazú, Daphne Quiroz Centurión and Thalía Turkowsky Cornejo; “Mass movements in Paihua ravine” (Geology) by Budy Chipana Huanca, Cristina Iberico Mendoza, Daphne Quiroz Centurión, Juan Carlos Ramírez Ocharán and Renzo Vargas Vizquerra; and “New headquarters of Banco de la Nación” (Graphic Engineering II) by Adriana Delgado Nalvarte, Alejandro Gómez García, Michelle Ramírez Cabada, Aldo Tasayco Rodríguez and Daniel Zamora Dulanto.
The following research projects were also rewarded: “Influence of the dosage of polypropylene macrofibers on plastic and mechanic properties of concrete” (Concrete Technology, 2019-1) by Valeria Bustamante Portillo, Luciano Castro Flores, Juan Pablo Cedrón Marín, Alejandro Gómez García, Santiago Gutiérrez Díaz and Daniel Zamora Dulanto; and “Reinforced concrete with macrofibers” (Concrete Technology, 2019-0) by Christopher Barboza Dávila and Vanessa Inciso Mayoria.
Lastly, the following research projects were recognized: “BIM in the public sector” (Architecture) by Eimi Canahualpa Nakamatsu, Hugo Contreras Ruíz, Karla Ramírez Ojanama and Kassandra Seclén Vásquez; “Sustainable green areas” (Environmental Engineering) by Sebastián Burga Sandoval, Juan Diego Delgado Miranda, Farhid Huamán Huachambe, Diego Ruesta Balcázar and Álvaro Vanini Valle; and “Comparison of shear strength parameters for three types of soil: sand, silt and clay” (Soil Mechanics) by José Atencia Vílchez, Álvaro Bazán Montalto, Santiago Gutiérrez Díaz, Alexandra Sarmiento Cabrejos and Mark Vicuña Jiménez.
